you might as well remove the heater too, you'll never need it.

The heater is part of the cooling system, acts as a heat sink, when not heating, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Hi all. Thought I'd revive this thread as it has the perfect title.
While under the vehicle pulling out the prop shaft, I noticed a few drops of fresh coolant making its way down the motor on the drivers side by the bell housing. The heater hoses all seem good, so where can the leak be coming from? I can't think of much else in that area that it could be. Are welsh plugs a possibility? I can't see any. Maybe I should remove the exhaust manifold and have a better look, but it seems a lot of trouble if no result.

Rear of the cylinder head, or inlet manifold. My money is however on the head gasket...

    Thanks JC.

    I think.

What's the norm here, replace the headgasket on that side only or do both at once.

Would it be safe to leave it for a while, it's not that bad......yet?

Have a look at the throttle body heater first. They all develop a leak at some stage.

Thanks Ten, but it's been bypassed and it's on the wrong side anyway.

WHere do the two hoses to the throttle heater originate from?

I have one line that ram from the lower inlet manifold across to the header tank. Replaced the cheesy fitting on the manifold with an alloy screw on one and make a new decent hose adapting it to S/S line and hose again at the take.

Another Q's for JC. The penrite purple coolant is listed as Si-OAT. Any better? Has great results for cooling, dumped a head gasket recently after a cooling system repair and replacement of coolant like for like (also used distilled water and water wetter).

Where are HOATS available from and =whats their compatibility with others

I have a single new hose direct from the header tank to the top front of the motor. It's about the only coolant line on the car that I trust.
