I'm in Darwin at the moment but will be driving back in a couple of weeks . It really is an easy job, once you pull the old unit out you will see what i am talking about .

Generally in our society if you were to tell someone that you worked today, they wouldn't assume that you worked for 24 hours straight, but perhaps where you are is a bit different...

It would be quiet feasible that it took him from around the morning to the evening with a few breaks for coffee and meals and that. I'd imagine that like most of us he doesn't time himself for exact project/job times in the garage/workshop... But who knows, maybe he'll come through and give you an exact breakdown of it...

The original head unit sits on a steel tray that is riveted into the dash, i removed this and bent it to fit the 2din and then replaced it and screwed the 2din cage into the steel tray on the bottom and into the original screw holes in the top.
I also used the rubber mount that screwed into the back of the factory head unit and put it into the new one and it fits in the original hole.

All that made it all really solid and you can fit and remove the head unit as you please then.

I have driven over hundreds of k's on corrugated roads now and it doesn't rattle at all. I don't think the one in that other post would hold up considering all that is holding it is epoxy filler ??

I will take a photo tomorrow, i'm pretty happy with it as i was a bit nervous when i started pulling it apart!!
Did you move the A/C control lower? Did you get rid of the cup holder tray?
