Just wondering.....
Has anyone extended the tube and dip stick to make it easier to get too? An Auto guy I was talking to about it suggested it.
I wonder if Auto Guy would do it, ie warranty issues??? I didn't ask him at the time..
It is a P38 transmission sump. The ATF dipstick tube comes up next to the oil dip stick Note all the EGR stuff seems to have fallen off too.
Is there room in the P38 sump for a temp probe?
I was thinking of putting my auto temp sensor in the filler /level plug. I understand reason why not to do this but has anyone tried this?
Regards Ollie
I would think an auto temp probe should be as close to the sump fluid as possible,,
actually IN it would be great!
The ZF automatic transmission as fitted to the D2 TD5's has plenty of places already to fit a temperature sensor. There's at least two bungs that can be removed and the sensor placed in there. They are in front of the tranny sump around where the cooler lines connect. I have fitted a VDO sensor to one of these on my vehicle. The sensor sits in a position then that ATF will flow over it.
I notice that no one in this thread has been able to confirm that the D1 dipstick is correct for the fluid level in the D2 auto tranny. AFAIK they are a different model of transmission and therefore their fill levels may vary.
