Cdl or not
Quick one how does one tell if the disco has cdl other than the gear stick. I have a 03 d2 and lever is high low only.

The MY03 update had the CDL, but if your wasnt an update then its a fairly safe bet that yours wont have CDL. They deleted the function in the transfer case in late 01 and then reinstated it for the facelift.

I'm pretty sure there is a thread in here somewhere on how to feel for the CDL spigot, may have to do a quick search for the pictures. Ashcroft would be the go for a new nose on the transfer. They state the non-CDL trasnfers serial numbers start with the following: 61D, 62D, 69D or 70D
The D2 version is slightly different to the other LT230s, the transfer case is quieter and has an additional electrical switch on it. Different front output flange, but you could swap it.

Yeah thought of looking for one out of a d2 or Ashcroft. It's a shopping trolley at the moment but was tossing up a rangie classic or work on this rangie would work out cheaper but don't have the cash for one up front and another rego. Decisions decisions.

There's a thread somewhere on here which has the serials for when the CDL was fully removed from the transfer case.
It was very close to the start of '01 from memory.
edit:
and here it is:
