    proper turbo clamps at Masters

I had a browse around the new Masters at Gosford a few days ago and noticed that they have proper high pressure wide turbo hose clamps in lots of sizes for about $5-6 each. These are the ones with a bolt running along one side not worm drive.

I have already fitted some that I bought on ebay , but now they are at Masters so easy to find. I noticed some sizes at Supercheap also.

Have a look at the Murray constant tension clamps. They are widely regarded as the best available clamp for turbo systems. They are a very well worm drive clamp that is apparently good enough for use on WRC rally cars.

Worth reading before switching to t-bolt clamps:

And no, you can't blame land rover engineers if you crush the boost pipes with t-bolt clamps...

Point taken and thanks for that Offtrack.
I have identified a supplier of Murray clamps in Condell Park so will get some.
I always thought the screw band clamps were the ducks guts, now I know.

I have Tbolt clamps on my Td5 with silicone hoses. The Masters jobbies.
I prefer the wider section that doesn't cut into the silicone hose. And yes I suppose you could overdo the tightening but that like most things is just common sense.
In a previous life I used them on a high boost Mazda engine as it was the only way I could get it to stop blowing the intercooler hoses off. It would actually burst the worm drive clamps.

Interesting read, but IMO it comes across a little misleading.

If the point is that T-bolts don't apply even pressure, then point happily taken. But that doesn't mean they don't produce a tighter (better?) clamping force than worm gear type at any particular point. Perhaps "better" needs defining.

Also, how bold a red arrow is doesn't scream "scientific" to me.

T-bolt with some common sense applied still look like the "best" option to me.
