You can buy a good second hand compressor from someone like Phil at discoveryspares.com.au for I think about $230 odd . I have one and it works well and they stand behind their products for six months . They are disco dismantlers .
yep i know, the original lasted about 8-9 years, but the disco wasn't in darwin.I can accept that i may have had 1 faulty replacement but?? this will be my last genuine compressor i put in.

Evening all .... I really thought this thread would be redundant by now, but alas she ain't right yet!
I decided to replace compressor and hoses all the way back to the filter because I found parts second hand (very nervous about second hand compressor).
Installed and tested - all working well for about 50Km. The following day I gained a rear suspension warning light and associated annoying chime - bags still inflated, but blatantly there is no self levelling happening. Cursing myself for having purchased a send hand compressor, I removed the cover and pressed the switch to lift the suspension - surprise surprise - the compressor is working - and the suspension lifted perfectly! However - went for the test drive, warning light still on but I expected ride height to normalise at about 30Km/h, instead warning chimes start and suspension doesn't lower.
If the ride height sensors and central processor weren't working - surely I wouldn't get the warnings... could something in the compressor be stopping the exhaust functionality?
I would be very grateful for opinions/suggestions
Don't know, but you could check that the 3 solenoid valves are working when they should, and not blocked. The SLS ecu is VERY touchy, and will refuse to work the compressor if it detects something it doesn't like.
Also check the 2 height sensors for dirty connections.
Good luck.

It may seem a dumb question but, are the lines and solenoid a connected to the correct side?
Hmmm... I was careful when I put it back together, but you have me thinking... from memory three electrical connections, white, black and blue. I'm pretty sure the air lines are in the right place, but I will have a look tomorrow. She worked for a day - so I think I have it OK.....
My RH solenoid is blue and had a blue tagged air line, and was in the RH most spot.
The electrical connectors had no colour tag though
It is:
RH solenoid to RH air spring
Centre solenoid to compressor
LH solenoid to LH air spring.
The L and R electrical connectors when switched still work but the car leans at funny angles.

so are you saying it will not go down to normal height from extended.Mine does that occasionally.I just turn the key off and it seems to reset.
Problem solved....
the wire clip holding the connection to the exhaust solenoid (?) must not have been seated properly - after a day's use (all dirt and bumps here) the plug has shaken loose - a visual inspection didn't find it - I was checking connections this morning and it came away in my hand. Reconnected and locked firmly in place and all works well..... fault belongs to the idiot that installed it!
Thanks all.
