Replacing fuel lines - remove tank first?

Hi guys. I have a fuel leak from around the top of my fuel tank in my 2004 D2aTD5. Obvious suspect is the green high pressure fuel line. Mine was never recalled or replaced so I'm starting there. Do I need to drop and remove my tank first to remove and inspect the line(s)? Or can I do it from the top, through the rear cargo area? Started leaking about 200km from home but I made it - I'm now hoping my luck holds out bit longer and I don't have to drain and remove the tank!

You don't have to drop the tank. I did mine without doing it.

You'll need to access the top of the fuel tank (under the carpet and cover) where the fuel pump is and unclip the green line, then track it to its other end on the drivers side near the fuel filter.

Make sure you wrap it well before you put it back so it doesn't do it again. Plenty of threads on this.

Thanks Stallie. That's good news. I've read some of the other threads about wrapping the new line so should be sweet.

I had a fuel leak from one of the lines, i dont know which one but general opinion is that it is the green pipe.

I did drop the tank because I didn't know what I was dealing with but i think it would be possible to fix with out dropping the tank but would be a whole lot easier if the vehicle is up on a hoist, trying to do it laying under the vehicle I imagine will be tricky and frustrating.

I also took opportunity to give it all a good clean whilst the tank was off, get all teh dust / sand / diesel mix away
