    Chipping the engine

Has anyone had success in installing an aftermarket engine management chip to improve power and torque on a TD5?
Tried one brand and it was terrific until unexplained engine shutdowns started to occur. Tonnes more low down power. Its a bit hard going back to feeling like you've left the hand brake on!

Nope, a quick read over Clelo's prior posts reveals an 04 model, so that's NNN
When everyone these days is selling a "chip", regardless of if it's really a chip or just remapped software, it's not really surprising.
And yes, Clelo. I'd say more people have chipped Td5s than not.

Tombie here is a good person to talk to, although no longer in the business as I understand it?

I'll be going to Td5Inside, not just great products but great customer service

Jose is on here, chuck him a pm and have a chat

    Cascading errors, erratic performance...

Hmm... What ECU revision do you have and which maps are loaded?

Who loaded / supplied them to you?

DM's right mines a 2004 auto. I used a Dastek Unichip plug in with the standard ECU and it worked a treat until I suffered inadvertent engine shutdowns once a fortnight or there abouts. It feels like a slug with the chip removed and to add insult to injury I was left behind by a Defender the other day. ) Unless I can find a solution a 4.4 V8 diesel transplant might be the only thing that will bring a smile to my face!

    I tell you what.

I'll come out of retirement for this if you're willing to supply me some info...

I need the ECU number eg: NNN000130 which is located on a sticker at the end of the ECU (opposite to the plugs).

I'll then look at my store of maps and see what I have available to suit.

We can then see about how to make it happen.

    Hello Tombie,
My apologies for not responding quicker. We live out of town and our microwave internet service has been on the blink lately (5 days without it AAAAHH!). I will grab the information for you tomorrow night and post it on the forum. Thankyou for your help in advance

Hey mate, Why did you retire? I would have thought once you had some good maps sorted, it'd be a reasonable money spinner.

I've been waiting until I have enough cash to get a TD5inside but if your considering making a come back tour. Let us know.

You might have read some of my previous posts. I currently still have a EU3 map in my EU2 disco (done by previous owner). I tried calling the supplier of the map because he had supplied the wrong map. He didn't want to hear about it.

Anyway I'm currently putting up with higher fuel usage and hopping I dont cause any damage.

    Happy Days.
