Question Passenger front wheel arch - what is this black box?

Anyone able to tell me what this black plastic box is in the front passenger side wheel arch?

Picture is taken with the inner wheel arch lining removed:

Hi, I think you'll find it's the cold air induction system PHD104620 and the other end connects to your air filter box.
The D2s got their air from within the fender.
If a snorkel was fitted to your vehicle maybe the fitter left it there? or it's fallen off its attachment
    Regards, Mario

It's there to blank off air flow from behind the headlight/indicator to limit water entering at the front of the guard.

As Mario said the air intake is from the void between the inner & out guards.

If you've got a snorkel fitted you can get rid of it.

I have a Safari Snorkel fitted. Glad to hear it's not important as I accidentally put a screw through it when fitting my new flares < http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ictures-4.html >

Did you not notice any rattle from that area?

No, not particularly. There's a few rattles and squeaks on the truck though!

I have a few rattles when driving on bitumen and hit small pot holes, but they are not there when I have passengers, so the weight on the seats stops it.
I can't find where they are coming from.

Try the little plastic bushs/insulaters in the runners. Well I think there is some in there as most modern seat runners do. They can break up over time as they are a white plastic. I redid the falcon 1s with strips of polyethelyne belting about 3mm thick.
    Cheers Scott
