Is this a failing water pump ...BAD timing.

    HI Guys.

I am loosing water and I am hoping it is the water pump and not the Oil cooler. how can I tell the difference?

Also give my location in Port Macquarie, I don't like my chances of getting a new pump in time to fit it. and cant bring myself to risk driving it to Brisbane with what is becoming a serious leak.

I do have a second hand pump that has only done 30,000km. do I need the make up a new gasket or do the o rings do the job?

    Does this Pic help?
    Cheers

    Matt

Do you think I can use this if I can't get a new one?

    cheers

And now I can finish this conversation with myself as my top radiator hose has been rubbing on the Aircon pipe and worn through the rubber. Slight weeping on the water pump but nothing that bad to worry about at this pint. Will sort that at the next service.

Glad you got it sorted, I had nothing constructive to add so didn't reply (until now).

I have everything but the sensor in mine...

I now have the sensor.. just need to fit it. I'll do it as my xmas break job.

    Thanks for the warning.

Oh, and now I've seen you're good to go.. great news.

    Hey mattg.
We hear you loud and clear and if I was closer I'd offer to help. Do you have access to a RAVE manual? I'd take my chances with your spare pump. Give it a good clean up first. Hope it works out for you mate and best wishes for Christmas . Ps: are you all good now? Was it the top hose?
    Regards

All good now thanks. Top hose it was I will order a new pump and oil cooler core in time to replace these before I do Fraser Island later this year. Looking into a core from Sth Africa that is a custom heavy duty one. Will post up how that one goes.

I was watching with interest but with nothing to add as mine has a fair stain around the pump and on the lower hose. I'm hoping it holds out until my new engine mounts arrive. Water pump, engine mounts, intercooler hoses, oil pump bolt and a service done all together will be easier (touch wood).
