Hi all hope some one can give me some idea as to what could be wrong I am looseing coolant I fill to cold level when cold drive till warm recheck and the coolant hes droped about 5cm stays at this even when it cools down. Now the head was done just before christmas the head was checked valves reseated and was sent back to LR mechanics as ok head replaced new hoses every where radatior checked and flushed. Have new o rings in fuel cooler carn't see any coolant on the ground although the little over flow pipe on the coolant tank has coolant stains on it checked water temp about 80 deg fuel cooler is missing the thermostat from in side the end near the fire wall when I pulled it apart it was broken rang LR they said don't realy need it. This has got me stumped any help would be great thanks.

I agree with Sitec, If it is pushing coolant out of the overflow when getting hot with engine power reduction via the ECU at the same time, they are all likely symptoms of head gasket failure:(

some sit at the mark others up to 2 inches below and every other spot inbetween..when I had her big red ALWAYS spat her coolant down to about an inch below the cold mark, sat just over cold when hot and then always back down to the same level.
Never over heated, never blew the head or any other part of the cooling system, was chipped and used hard and so far as I know is still running today.
IF the ports at the bottom of the tank get exposed or the return line from the radiator never gets a clean stream then you can worry, till then, dont panic thats normal.
if the stains on the hoses are fresh when hot, clean the spigots, replace the hoses as needed.
I've had a mystery coolant leak that I've recently traced to the lower passenger side of the radiator. I noticed a small pink stain inside the wheel arch, took off the shroud inside the wheel arch, and seen lots of pink stains and splashes. I suspect that it's been leaking longer than the external evidence. Would take 10 mins to have a look and put it back together.

New radiator is on its way!

Do you have silicon hoses to & from your intercooler? Reason I ask, same thing happened to me, travelling on the Burnett Hwy from Gayndah, mid afternoon, my temp. monitor started creeping up, the same time as my power started dropping off. In hindsight, as the power dropped off, I gave it more accelerator, which produced higher temp. The hose to the inlet manifold had come loose, most of the boost was going to atmosphere, new clamp, fixed it. The EGR replacement kit I put in has a stainless flange on the inlet manifold, & no lip for the silicon hose to button on to, those hoses get very slippery, I have noticed. Anyway, another thing to think of, Bob
