    RECALL ISSUES

    Hi all

Recently my Disco series 2 has developed a diesel leak that seems to be coming from a fuel hose.

I strongly suspect that it may be related to a recall that was put out regarding the fuel line chaffing against the ABS/water sensor harness and fuel pump harness.

I have contacted Land rover with my VIN number and they say the recall work has been completed on my vehicle.

It seems that if the work has been completed, it would be fair to expect problem occur again.

Land rover has told me that it would be at the local dealers digression if they carry out the work free of charge like the original recall.

Below is the link to the recall notice.

Has anyone experienced faults after the initial recall?
If so, what process did you go through?

Might pay to have a look on https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/t...vkPER.prs72696

Put your VIN in, and check for completed & outstanding service items.

Depending on if & when it was done, I wouldn't think you would have much chance of getting it fixed again.

But, that said, it is worth a shot, especially if you can go back to the same dealer.

    Hey Disco22.
A subject I know all about. Yep, I got the recall notice and my D2a went in for the, so called "repair". Thought nothing more of it. Fast forward to 2009. We went on a holiday to show the kids snow, search for "stuck in the snowies" for all the details but turned out the green banded pressure line had chaffed through and fuel was spraying everywhere. By that stage it was well out of warranty. Did not pursue it any further. It is an easy fix with a 40 dollar part. Plus a lot of extra insulation to stop it from hapening again. If you want me to describe what I did in detail let me know.
    Regards
    Robbo

If it isn't too much trouble I would love to know what you did to rectify the problem.
I am not much of a mechanic at all, and do not seem to be getting anywhere fast with Land Rover, so will probably have to bite the bullet myself.

    Cheers

Most likely, it will be the "green" banded hose that has rubbed through. When you get the new one, tape the rubbed areas with heaps of electrical tape and thread on some plastic flex conduit. Also, cable ties are your FRIEND!!!!. I found an article on a UK site that will answer all your questions and its pretty much how I fixed my car, with pictures. Have a look and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. Click on the link below.
Ps: have the fuel tank as empty as possable before you start.
    Regards
    Robbo

My disco chaffed through the diesel lines once before and once after the recall. The second time, I slit soft rubber hose and covered the fuel lines from beginning to end, securing with cable ties. No further trouble since or expected.

Has anyone actually gone back to land rover after the recall?

I have done a little bit of research and contacted the QLD office of fair trading and the ACCC.

The ACCC have suggested that if in fact the problem is caused by chaffing, Land Rover would have to complete the repairs free of charge, and if there are enough cases, issue a further recall.

I have been advised to take the vehicle back to land rover to have it repaired. This will most likely be at my expense. I will then send a report to the ACCC who will conduct their investigation into it and get back to me when completed. This will take some time I would imagine, but may result in land rover issuing another recall, and would refund the repair costs.

The earliest I can get a booking at Land Rover is Monday 14JAN14.
Will see what they come back with.

I've had that green hose chafe through three times. Recall was done, then chafed through under factory warranty, then once again under extended warranty, then again afterwards. I ended up fixing it by wrapping the pipe in some heater hose to protect it. Land rover will just replace the pipe, not fix the chafing point.

A search will find some old discussions between robbotd5 and myself, including my fix if I recall correctly....

    Cheers,
