    R380 bellhousing TD5 disco2

Trying to track one of these down anywhere, ASAP.

Anyone have any leads to where I might find one? And whilst the same box was in the defender, it seems that the bellhousing is different?

    Rare as hens teeth

    Thanks!

If no joy with above try TRS Adelaide.
The Bell housing is the same on D2 and Defer, the shifter housing is the difference.

Couldn't get one in Melbourne. Rang a dozen places.

TRS to the rescue. They've just opened for the morning and have one.

Good News with TRS, they usually have everything you need if you have the cash.
What happened to yours? Or is there a project happening?

Defenders have had the R380 since around 94 maybe a bit earlier.
The change from TDI to TD5 saw the longer input shaft and also bell housing.
Suffix J was the last before they were put on the back of the TD5, so suffix K & L is the better box. Though these cant directly retrofit without changing input shaft and bellhousing.
Externally, there are no real changes but better internals, bearings etc make the K onwards a more durable box.
The R380 was dumped for the MT82 when the TDCi (transit motor) came out.i.e Puma models.

Um! I have a bell housing and input shaft, but it's still in with the 'L' suffix gear box.

I have managed to get the collar off but was leaving the dismantling the rest of the box until I made up some trestles for a new work bench.

The box was then going to be built up using the earlier bell housing and the correct input shaft to suit a 'L' box and into a TDi 300 Defender, so those other parts will be spare.

Because of the difference in the lay shafts between the 'J' , 'K' and 'L' suffix boxes I am under the impression that the parts I have, will only go back into a 'L' suffix box.
