Transmax Z no longer available. How about this instead?

Any opinions on this Penrite fully synthetic ATF?
Penrite Oil - A Better Class Of Oil

I have 3L of Transmax left and apparently Supercheap etc aren't getting any more.

Dont Repco, Covs, or Veales sell it?

If you are talking for use in the D1/D2 auto, then most good spec fully syth trans fluid should be fine, Id be loathed to change from Transmax Z but thats only my personal opinion, Ive been using it for as long as I can remember, I aint changing.

I use Nulon fully synthetic in the auto.

I find it great. Not the cheapest, but on par with Transmax Z

Castrol still make and sell Transmax Z, so just go to a different retailer to purchase it.

I wouldn't be too keen on mixing fluids in the transmission. If Transmax Z is what you currently have in there, keep using it rather than mixing another brand in.

I'm using Penrite ATF-FS I changed to it after a rebuild at the first change as I didn't know what had been used before. I'm very happy at the performance.

    Just some updated info...

According to the local BP distributor (Castrol is BP) where I buy my oils including Transmax Z. If they dont get an order for a product line for 2 weeks they dont stock it. Orders from Repco, Super cheap etc etc (for the area) all go through them. Apparently Im the only one thats been buying it for some months now. I suspect this is the case in most areas.

The local Supercheap and Repco staff have said "they dont make it anymore, but XX brand here is good for your use", If you are getting this sales pitch and want the Transmax Z, find a local BP Distributor, they generally are happy to do retail sales.

    regards

I think you will find its still available however valvoline have withdrawn from supplying to retail shops. I think they have stuck with commercial contract supply

I just drained my auto (Td5) for the first time in too many kms on the weekend.

My plan is to drop the fluid again shortly and then refill with a "better" fluid.

So, what's currently in there is about 5 litres of Castrol Dexron III and whatever couldn't be drained out without a full flushing.

My question relates to the next refill after I drop this lot:
    - is it okay to top up with a full synthetic (Dexron III is a mineral based oil right?),
    - would it be unwise to use a fluid from another manufacturer for this top up? (leaning toward the Transmax Multivehicle or Nulon Multivehicle Full Synthetic ATF)?

Cheers for any info that you can offer my way.
