Thread: D2 won't start

Could be fuel pump! when you turn the key on can you hear the pump?
No sound, or loud noises?
If you push the accelerator to the floor a few times wil it start then?

I know you said it starts if you hold the pedal, but try 3 cycles then release. See what happens.If this also works,I suspect your pump is on the way out. Genuine replacement is the way to go,a lot of aftermarket units just don`t last.

Quite possible it is the pump. To check leave the d/door open and turn the ignition on.
You should hear a soft buzzing from the fuel tank area then it stops as pressure is built. if no sound is heard it is the pump. D2s will run without the pump if the tank is over 3/4, but with reduced power. before spending on a new pump check wiring, fuses, and earthing points, all of which can be the problem. A search will bring up lots of posts on the subject.

Hope I am replying correctly. Never used a forum before.
Thanks guys for your prompt reply. I've just tried 3 cycles and it started! The pump sounds very noisy, so a genuine replacement sounds the go. Once again cheers. Jon.

Poor delivery on a pump will often be seen as the struggle to reach 3000rpm.

I highly recommend if replacing pump only go genuine, I gave up many years ago using the cheap pumps on a TD5.

Looking for air in the system, put the TD5 into purge mode, ignition on and depress throttle pedal 5 times, the MIL (engine light) will flash, once purge mode is finished the MIL will stop flashing, then start. Use this also when replacing pump, injectors, filters.
