I went from a standard Intercooler to an Allisport Intercooler and it made a considerable difference and I am in heat all the time.

No certainly hasnt eliminated it but did make it better
Cant remember the cost just found a Discovery TD5 one on ebay in the UK for 500 quid
Dimensions 640 x 388 x 50mm core size
Not sure if that helps nor how it compares to the D2a Intercooler
Here I dont notice the poor performance in the heat just the better performance when the temperature drops
Not blue (oil), dark brown, so assuming overfuelling, have cleaned the sensors, should do it again I suppose

True, but if the vehicle is not really going anywhere then I would say the inverse of that - lack of air. My understanding is more fuel = more power. But if you're not getting any power, then that really only leaves a shortage of air. Back to where you were the start the thread!
Apart from re-checking a few things, my helpfulness on the Td5 is at an end I'm afraid. I would be checking turbo waste-gate, boost compensator, sensors, etc. You appear to be on the right track. Good luck.![]()
I have a D2a, and I had the lack of power thingy last week. It was 46 deg C in the afternoon and I had to drive up a big hill, it was like the turbo wasn't even working (no boost) so I had to just keep banging it down gears.
Next day it was fine. I have since done the EGR blanking procedure.
I doubt having all those hot exhaust gases going into the engine would have been helping the situation.
I think it would also be wise to check the ECU plug and give it a good clean with contact cleaner, if there is any contact resistance on the pins that could contribute to any lack of power.
Thanks Drifters.
Did the EGR removal 3 years ago, replaced injector loom.
What puzzles me if why ONLY when it's hot?

It's certainly possible that it's an electrical connection. Sensors that work by slight changes in resistance could certainly be affected by poor electrical connections and significant temp differences could exaggerate the problem.
