looking at disco 2

Hi
looking at buying a disco 2 auto 2001,
only issue i have with it is a slight oil around the bell housing (now that will most likely be the fuel reg at the back of the head or what else would it be) at around 2200rpm in when taking off before the first upshift it has a slight miss/vibration.
also how hard is it to fit cruise control to them as it don't have cruise.
it also has a tape deck so what is required to change it to a cd player and is there a kit for them?
also how hard is it to fit steering wheel controls for the stero?

I am guessing by your question that its a TD5 the oil leak could possibly be rocker cover and your miss could be caused by a faulty or leaking fuel pressure regulator if it is a diesel you only need to fit the buttons as the rest of the cruise is already part of the system.you can easily fit any brand stereo into the dash of a d2 but as for steering wheel controls I'm sure someone else will be along to direct you in that area.
I would suggest you get an inspection if you are unsure of the mechanical condition by someone who is well versed in land rovers and above all else make sure it has a good service history

it has excellent service history at mlr (if that's a good thing or not i don't know) and i looked over it for all the common faults listed and it had nothing, the miss vibration only occurred on take off at 2200 just before up shift it could just be harmonic's with the 5 cly.
very good news on the cruise control it was one of the only things i was not sure on thank you
good news on the oil leak too least that's nice and simple

also is there an easy way to check if it has a CDL too ?

If its a early or mid 2001 it will have CDL, but if you get under the car, from memory drivers side, and on the top of the transfer box you can feel the arm for the CDL, should be able to move it as well if my memory is correct.

If you are purchasing from a dealer the oil leak should be fixed as a roadworthy item , and hopefully they will attend to the vibration as well

As it's an 02 it probably won't have CDL unless it has been retrofitted

it was first reg in may 01 so wouldent that have it has a late 2000 early 2001 build then? for the CDL?
vibration i think they wouldent do anything with it is a very slight vibration, ill take it for a drive again saturday and check if it is there still and not my imagination or not then can take them and point it out too

at worse can get it done under warenty
