Hi, I have not personally repaired an expansion tank but I believe a product called Rapid Fix will do it.
I have used it to repair broken plastic dash parts and holes in fuel tanks.
It is a 2 part glue/powder which dries hard instantly, you apply the glue and then powder and build it up in layers.
I watched a video of how it can be used on YouTube and it is amazing!
They drilled a hole in a hydraulic filter and repaired it, then applied so much pressure that the whole filter puffed up like a ballon, the hose blew and the repair stayed intact.
