BCU Issues?
Hi Folks,
Well after 2.5 years of reasonably trouble free motoring in the tropics, my 2000 V8 is giving me its first significant problem.
Yesterday both keys would not unlock the car, the red light on the key just flashed.
I had to use the EKA to get in. All well everything worked for rthe rest of the day, so thought it maybe the receiver.
Hawkeye showed the code P1668 with the following message:
Fault 148 P1668: Anti Theft Alarm System Check BCU/BECM. Serial Link Timeout Max Value Exceeded and Static.
Yesterday I cleared that code.
Today, same as above, EKA again to get in same fault P1668. All normal once I have turned on the ignition.
I'm aware of the BCU issues on 2000 models, mine did not go in for the recall as far as I can tell as after 12 hours it shuts down. This has been normal.
I have Hawkeye, and me. Would be very grateful if someone has experience with this.
Thanks, Jerry

No experiences with the fault code but as you are in the tropics, as a start, I would be removing, spraying with contact cleaner, checking for corrosion and then refitting the plugs on all ECU modules.
Check for any signs of water ingress around the ECU also.
