    D2 noise clutch noise

I'm getting a groaning noise sometime when I'm letting the clutch out in reverse. Only sometimes only reverse & only when operating clutch. Any help appreciated. Thanks

First thing in the morning when cold mostly ?

Spigot bush has dried out, or lost its lubrication however you want to say it.

    That's what mine was..

    A bit like this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3SfummQ5eE]Clutch noise - YouTube[/ame]

That's my mum's D2. From my research it's either the spiggot bush or clutch release bearing. Both getting changed, as you can hear her's is quite bad!

Wow, mines not that bad but same noise!
Might as well put new clutch in at the same time.
    Any recommendations on clutches?

Yeh hers is so bad you can't drive it. Well you can, but you look a right idiot everywhere you go!

We're doing a new clutch at the same time too. I went with a Valeo clutch on recommendation. No idea which others would consider the best though.

As already mentioned, in reverse when cold, its the spigot bush. Very common on the TD5, you would be surprised how many repairers replace the clutch assembly and dont replace the $3.00 spigot.

It generally wont cause a problem its just dammed annoying if you have just paid someone the big dollars to change out a clutch assembly, not to mention Id find it embarrassing if I ever gave a vehicle back with a spigot groan.

Just had clutch replaced and the bush. Very quiet now. Not bad as original clutch assembly with 350,000k on it. Amazing how smooth the shifts are.

Mechanic confirmed it was the bush but the total assembly was close to failure.
