6L do it?
Im not able to car pool with my partner any more due to being on different shift for work; I've always had the V8's done every 5000k but that comes up every 11 weeks now so what I thought I might do is get my mechanic to do every 10000k and I'll do oil and filter in between times
I've nudged mine over a couple of months a few times, as I also do very little K's as use similar oil. Never been a problem.
Only thing to bear in mind is the other parts of the car which get checked when you have the service done, plus greasing of prop shafts etc.
As long as you think all the belts, hoses, and the car is OK then no reason why you cant leave it a little longer.... IMHO
Serviced my car today (takes ~5.8 litres of oil). I tipped the entire bottle in (6l). Didn't go over the fill mark by much.
I needed to empty the container for the discharged oil.
Changed the oil filter, air filter and new spark plugs. Also snapped one of the spark plug leads. It was very brittle where it connects to the spark plug (assuming from heat). It was also slightly corroded. Cleaned the lead with a bit of sand paper and jammed it back on. Job for another weekend because that looks painful to replace. (can anyone suggest an easy way and the lead I will need - on your left, second from the firewall)
Anyway runs with no problem (in fact better) so it can wait.
Regards
Andrew
P.S I used Penrite 10W-40. The bottle had a piece of plastic in it. Found it in the funnel after tipping the bottle in. The funnel I used has a gauss grill on it - lucky.
Easy way is to pull the mounts to drop it down enough to get your hands behind the inlet manifold. And just change the set, if ones corroded enough to break then they are past their use by date anyway.
