Radiator damage identification.

If it was just the outer rip I'd agree, but I doubt very much the inner rip was been caused by the fan. The shape and position isn't right which is what makes me think that something else has been in there. The damage start points are at the same spot too.

The tip can. They fold when they get stuck between the radiator core tubes.

I've seen that done by someone yanking the serpentine belt out past the fan

IF hte damage looks like it was "drawn upwards" Id bet money on it.

Maybe someone was trying to get harmonic balancer bolt off and used the socket and bar on the nut and crank the engine and it slipped and score the radiator, or a bad attempt to remove a stuck viscous and toll slippage???

I doubt it was tool usage. Especially as they didn't learn the first time and the depth of the gouge.

I zoomed in on "Slunnies" picture of his radiator and I'm now thinking it was the same thing. If his was the fan puling through water then I guess that's what has done mine.

I'll definatly be moding the front splash guard so it doesn't direct water up into the fan and taking it even easier in water.

I'm pretty surprised as I have driven through plenty of water before but maybe just got unlucky. It wasn't even very deep.
