    SRS Light

    Hi guys

I've removed the yellow clips and soldered the wires. there no oil in the harness but my SRS light is ON for most of the time. It's been suggested that it could be a fault with the clockspring.
    It's a 2000 manual Td5.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Craig

Without putting a diagnostic on it, Id say its a given, common failure on a lot of vehicles, especially Toyota who call it a "squib", yet the 2 brands that get bagged (no pun intended) the most (Land Rover, Jeep) Ive changed out the least.

Do take care when changing out as the airbag unit in front needs to be removed, disconnect battery, go off and have a cup of tea while the current drains off (yes turn on headlights works) When fitting dont play with the new squib or clockspring, simple fit it carefully, even new ones can be a bit fragile.

    SRS light

Light needs reset with tester nanocom etc
Check all wires for continuity before you
    remove the coupler.
Are your cruise control and horn working
as they all use the coupler and can short.

    Some good pics and info

Is the glovebox full? Interferes with the yellow connector behind there, you can just wiggle it with the box open.

Seatbelt pretensioner wiring under the seats is usually where the fault lies on D2's, I have seen many wires torn out where people have stuffed things under the seats....

If it is a damaged wire, the fault will reset itself on startup/ self check after repairs, no need for a service tool.

Do NOT check any SRS wires for continuity with any airbag unit connected.

I reckon justin has the answer covered though.
