    XYZ Switch Help!!

Can anyone tell me if an XYZ switch off of a working 2003 Discovery will work on my 2001 Discovery II SE7? I only ask because mine is bad, I have read that XYZ switches are interchangeable from 1999-2004 but I see different part numbers.. They look identical but now I am very curious and need to know before I send the wife over the gulf to Tampa to pick this one up for us... Help!!! Please!!! LOL!! Thanks all!! John

I cant help you with the question someone will answer soon i am sure.but they are mostly repairable.Make sure your airconditioning drain is not leaking water onto it.and while you are there move the drain off the front drive shaft as well, common problem causes.

There is only one LR part number for the switch: UHB100190

This covers two different switch designs, one with a beige plastic housing fitted to the early D2's and one with a black plastic housing fitted to later d2's.

I believe the later switch was redesigned to improve reliability, but is functionally identical to the early switch. Mounting holes are the same and the cable connector and pinout is identical, so you can swap between the two without any issues.

I fitted a second hand "black body" switch in place of a "beige body" one last weekend and have had no issues.

It should be fairly straight forward to set the switch if you follow RAVE. Main thing is to make sure the operating lever is fully forward. Once you have the switch on, just tighten the lower bolt enough that the switch won't slip. Make sure the Shifter is fully forward, and then tighten up the cable clamp on the lever at the Auto. By ensuring the shifter and actuating arm are correctly aligned before adjusting the WXYZ switch you eliminate 90% of the drama in getting the switch positioned correctly.

    cheers
