Egr removed
Alloy alliard radiator
Alloy alliard intercooler
Silicon intercooler hoses
Trs remap

Only just had it done but so far in very impressed with the outcome. Next and final step will be to remove the centre muffler on the exhaust

I have done the EGR removal and replace my downpipe and centre pipe with straight through versions. Very happy, next step a retune.

Any engine mods (aside from EGR) will make you warp your manifold.

Solution, bigger studs and a linishing. Cut the webbing out too if you feel like it.

I've done my manifold 3 times in 40k. Wife that drives fast in hilly country without paying attention to gauges = warped manifold . I have a chip, D2a intercooler, removed EGR. Tried the muffler removal but it droned too much.

But that is hardly the fault of the mods!! That is classic "Operator error"! Used with in the limitations of the hardware I feel that Mods such as a retune, decating, De EGR'ing etc can be of benefit to a particular situation. . Making cruising a highway with trailer more enjoyable and safer faster overtakings etc. However tailoring the mods to your operating situation is the most important.
Its the same as you would not have a 465 blown Keith Black hemi if all you did was run the 12 ks into the office in peak hour. Great look at me and traffic light status but very impractical!!

JE Engineering studs seem to help prevent warped manifolds without the need to go oversize:

The stud kit was £35 plus postage in late 2012, not sure what they are charging now.

The only other mods I have on mine at present are:

- Allard de-egr kit
- Samco XDB silicone hoses
- Td5Inside remap

Snorkel
EGR removal.
Came standard with no cat.
Center pipe removed.
Just ordered gauge and temp sender for exhaust temp.

Looking at replacement ECU very soon.

I'll tell my wife you said "operator error". In all seriousness though, every modified TD5 I have ever come across has had a warped manifold at some stage.

There's plenty of stock standard TD5's that have warped their manifolds. I'm not convinced that it's a modified motor issue.

5 cylinder motors from other manufacturers have also have issues with warping manifolds. e.g. it was a common with the VW 5 cylinder engines in the 80's/90's. You might find therefore that it is an inherent design fault with this type of motor? Maybe just a coincidence though.
