    Replying to various posts above-
    Problems with the td5 are:
    Fuel consumption 13l/100km,
    Lacking power
Massive oil leaks @ front & rear of engine (I'm thinking crankshaft seals) 2l oil per 1000km
Which led to the turbo failing. Again.
Less important than the above is an intermittent fault In the left front wheel sensor & associated 3amigos.

    Hey Alex.
Your issues should be easily sorted. The fuel consumption/ lacking power issue could be a crook injector or the injector not being coded to the ECU. Oil seals are wear items, just replace them. The amigos are an easy fix. Plenty of info on here. Persever with the Td5 mate. They are a blank canvas compared to a V8 where the gallery is full.....
    Regards

Ha, good one. It's been what, 1.5 months since I listed it? I'm in no hurry. Although, I could always just give it away, couldn't I?

I might end up keeping it anyway, so I'm not concerned.

    Wow, what a great diagnosis.

The poor bloke has done two turbo's already, is having to put 2L of oil in per 1000km, and you're throwing him 'should' and 'could' answers, and telling him to persevere with something he has obviously spent large amounts of time and money on already. Insecure much?

The lacking power problem is standard on TD5's. No way around it unfortunately. Unless of course, you want to throw even more money at your 'blank canvas'? I mean, look at all the mod's and extra's Robbo has had to fit to his ($$$$)... And, he still wouldn't keep up with my stock V8 engine... And, I still pay less than him to fill mine with gas and petrol for equivalent (or better) km/L... Obviously, I'm comparing the TD5's lack of power to the 'full gallery' V8 .

Seriously though Alex, if you are going to persevere with it (), take it to someone who knows their stuff (a Land Rover specialist or a reputable forum member), and get them to tell you what is wrong, and how much it's going to cost you to fix it. Only then can you decide what to do. I hope you get your problems sorted, one way or another.

Never late in a Rover V8.........

Unless you didn't have a full tank when you left home - now you're in a servo filling up

Brenno... A good TD5 will out pull a V8 disco any day, and for very little coin outlay..

The V8s sound good, but aren't going to set the world on fire...

Those issues are relatively easy and also expected for vehicle of this age...

I'm yet to see it... Guess there aren't too many good TD5's around.

    Wasn't claiming that they do.
