    D2 radiator shroud screws

I'm sure anyone who is fitting a new radiator and has done some searching would come across this but I thought I'd post it anyway.

It's known that the screws that hold the shroud on the back of the radiator. The ones that screw in to the top can be too long and pierce the radiator.

Mine were already cut but I checked the depth anyway. It was interesting to note one side was about 5mm shallower than the other.

    Leak point

It not uncommon to find these screws leaking coolant it's
well hidden to under the cover.
PTFE tape on thread is a good idea.

Like yours I found the holes are different depths.
I have ground the end of the screws and fitted large flat washers also to lift the thread protrusion.
Out of habit now I always refit the screws and washers to the hole they come out of when removing the shroud.
    Cheers, Kyle

    radiator shroud screws

Frequently a problem especially with aftermarket radiators it seems.
The shroud is not structural so no need for a great deal of length to them. It`s only light plastic supporting virtually no load.

Use much shorter screws and no problem.

I was informed There was that problem with Britpart Radiators coming back as claims to supplier for those screw holes. There was a temporary hold on the sale of them until it could be addressed. The solution it seemed was you must used shorter screws or warranty was voided .
