    Different Rover, same problem.

    Brains trust,

We purchased a D2 after having a 110 and have just found out that when it rains, our feet still get wet.

This only happens on the passenger side in heavy rain.

It drips from the aircon fan housing.
It worries me with all the electronics up there.

Where is it coming from (aside from the sky), and how do I stop it.

    Thanks again.

    Will

Used to happen occasionally in my old D1 if I remember correctly there is a drain that keeps the area around the ventilation intake clear (on the outside near the firewall under the bonnet) and it can block and the water goes in the vent intake. It can also leak in very heavy rain or if you put the hose ion that area.

Will - I cannot speak for a D2 but on the D1 I had it was lift the bonnet, go around the passenger side and clean out the leaves in the depression at the back of the engine bay - next to where the air gets suck into the cabin. But may be different on a D2.

Basically the air intake for the cabin is below the bonnet line but when airflow is not from straight ahead water can be sucked into the cabin air intake and drip onto the floor or it can go in if the water cannot drain away from the area around the air intake.

As mentioned the A/C can leak but it would be doing it all the time not just when it rains.

It could well be a blocked A/C drain plug. This is the usual cause of wet foot wells.

Once you've climbed under the car, there are two rubber grommets on the fire wall either side of the transmission tunnel. They get blocked with muck.

They need clearing with your fingers or a stick/screw driver then await the gush of gunk that drops on you!

Somebody maybe able to explain it a little better.

    Cheers, Jerry

This may not be relevant, sorry if not, but my D2 leaked from both corners of the top of the windscreen. The water eventually made its way to the floor. The headlining in the corners was wet. Fixed by dropping the headlining, at the front, applying lots of sealant on the inside at the top of the screen, more sealant on the outside , forcing the nozzle under the rubber sealing strip at the top of the screen. Temporary fix until I can afford to take the screen out & do it properly, but it doesn't leak. Bob

    Thanks all.

It's definitely not the air con drains as I live in Townsville and use the ac all the time. This only happens when it rains heavy.
