Have a look here What did you do on your Landy today? (Post # 2073) to see how Tombie's turned out.

I know this a thread about D2's but I have a dark green Defender with dark grey alloys if that of any interest, just to see the colours: http://Grey-rims-on-the-110-Defender

The dark grey is a Porsche colour: Agate Grey. Sprayed them myself. Easy job. No chipping or anything at all all ....

Why not buy some replacements that are already coloured? ZU Alloy is an example of a company that sells dark coloured wheels - see Zu Alloys | Wheels & Tyres

Painting them properly took a while...
These are sanded back, etch primed, primed (3 coats), painted (3 coats) and clear coated (2 coats) and now have been compounded and polished...

Took about 10 hours all up over a few weeks.

But much cheaper than buying brand spankers?!! Have you got some pics of them finished?

I can barely afford to refuel it, let alone re wheel it!! I have paint, paint gear and a certain (very little) amount of know how!

If you use 2 pack, it is pretty easy.

If you don't want a gloss finish, you can just spray the colour coat as the final coat, and it is quite a nice Satin finish. I remember adding 10% of something into the colour mix (because I was not top coating with clearcoat) but as I type, I can't remember what it was - maybe 10% of clearcoat hardener.... but I'm not sure.

    Has anyone tried Plasti Dip?

    https://www.plastidip.net.au/

There's a heap of info on the net from Dip your Car ... could be worth a thought.
