    No lifting required - maybe a little

    I'm after some higher rate front springs for my D2a with SLS in the rear. Not after much of a lift, if at all. Running 255/55R18 tyres.

    There's are no additions to the front of the car so no extra weight. Main use is touring loaded to GVM. I do tool around '4wd'ing' too but figure the TC will make up for lost articulation if it comes to that.

    I don't really want to lift it; the shocks (Koni RAID) say they'll handle +20mm, so maybe 20mm if I can get a rear spacer for the bags that's only 20mm.

    The springs are original and don't seem to have sagged (after measuring wheel arch - hub dist) but the bump stops are taking a beating so they must be too soft.

    One of the guys from Suspension Stuff said King do a 235 lb front that would do the job - this seems awfully stiff. Pedders say they do a rate that is about 20% over standard, with standard ride height. I'm leaning toward Pedders but only because they match the Koni's being painted red.

    Can anyone tell me what the std rate is for the D2a front spring? They're green/orange(left) and yellow/orange(right) colour code.
    What would be a good rate that does everything: reduced bottoming; comfy ride, articulation and only has a 0-20 mm lift?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated - chasing my tail!

    The spring rate is 150Lb per inch.

    A Range Rover "green" rear spring will raise it about 20MM or so and has a similar spring rate of 160Lb per inch and is 16.1 inches long.
    Les Richmond sell an identical spring.
    I have a 2002 D2 TD5 with no bars etc so should be similar to yours and I am very happy with the lift and ride. You will NOT be happy with a 235Lb spring.
    I have posted somewhere what height it turned out to be .

    The measurements for mine are in a post. Google "Changed the springs today good result "at the bottom of the page.
    I have stock length Monroe shocks on mine and they do not top out.

    Dobinsons do a +20mm for the D2 which on my Td5 lifted it from 490 up to 520 (no bar or winch). They are the same free length as std but slightly heavier wire, so higher rate. Height is now down to 510 after ~4yrs and 5 outback trips fully loaded and the bump stops are rarely hit. I can't detect any noticable hardness in ride, even unloaded.

    Also lifted the rear air springs 15mm with Nanocom no noticable hardness.
    Running std dampers on the front and std length Bilstein on the rear.

    I was wondering about using the Nano to just reset the 'normal' position of the SLS a bit.

    Could you please outline the change in the numbers you used?

    My Dobinson plus 20 brought it to 40mm up all round from its sagged height - and thats with lpg and front tjm bar etc.

    Ride is excellent with Billies to suit.

    OK I found the info -
    Started off with unadjusted suspension stored height 150/150, which was wheel centre to guard 450 left, 470 right.

    Changed it to stored height 158/158, which gave wheel to guard 470 left, 490 right.

    Don't know why the wheel heights are different for the same setting height, I gave up trying to get them the same in the end, doesn't make a lot of difference in the real world.
    You have to make the setting change, save, go for a drive, let the ecu think about it for a while, then check again. Repeat until you get sick of it.
    None of that consistency that computers are supposedly famous for......

    Setting SLS

    The numbers used on nanocom are based of resistance values
    from the height sensors its like the fuel sender.

    Use actual measured with tape measure or some type of gauge

    Set car up to its most used load passengers fuel dogs barbie ETC
    then set height via nano
