    Rookie mistake.

You buy bright & shiny thing for her... oohhh, ahhh.. pretty...

    Then, without warning:

"Where the hell did THAT thing come from? You dont have time for it. We dont have the money for it. Now I need to buy new shoes because you have upset me."

Now, on the off chance that your dear better half is truly genuine, does she have a sister???

Two of them, both spoken for. Sorry mate

And jeez fellas, give a bloke some credit. I'm not a total idiot. It's not like I make anniversary presents out of broken Land Rover parts....

Save your money for a light bar or hid spots, polishing a turd does not make a diamond, or something like that!

    Nerves of steel, me thinks...

Either that, or she is buttering you up for something..

The only other, logical, thou highly unlikely option is, my dear Muppet, is that she actually IS genuine, and really means it when she says, "go ahead". Now, IF this is the case, wrap her in cotton wool, and enclose her in glass. She is a keeper.

My money is on the buttering up! Classic man trap, tasty morsels laid in a seemingly random, innocent and sweet way, appealing to the perception of "hes the boss"
When he is down the slope far enough the steel jaws of feminine logic and say so will snap shut! Ensnaring the victim forever!
She may be a "keeper" but they are only so on their terms!
    Cheers Scott

    What's that?
I can look after myself, if I have to run away, it's not like she'll catch me in an NA toyota diesel
And I am the boss. I have the land rover, I make the rules
I have to say, in response to the OP, I'm really not feeling overly convinced to update

Old lady 2- Yes dear they do. But I feel that a man that says hes boss in his own house will lie about other things too!
