Back on the road (for a while)
My 2000 td5 auto has been off the road since Australia Day. Finally got a new turbo & fitted it. Its now sitting idling in the drive smoking off the oil & crap that must have filled the pipes & intercooler when the turbo went. Not much smoke at idle but when I push the throttle there's a big cloud of black AND white smoke but it clears once I let off the throttle.
Update on the oil leaks that led to the turbo failing - I still think its the front crankshaft seal, but the fumes I'm seeing rising around the back of the head make me think its either cam gasket "D" or camshaft rear cover.
Makes it sound a whole lot better... now to save up to get those fixed (& keep on pouring oil into her so I don't have any more run-dry failures)
Happy days
Ale x

Update after 40 minutes idling only a puff of black smoke when I hit the throttle. Give it a little longer & I'll take her for a drive
