Question Rear ABS sensor wiring - different lengths?

I am getting three amigo issues from the rear of my D2a. Generally the left side, but once or twice the right side. Have been wondering about replacing the sensor.

I have noticed that the replacement ABS sensors for the rear of the D2 have a long wire on them rather than a short wire with a connection such as that fitted to my D2.

Microcat shows the parts break up as (note the sensor has the short lead and plug connection in the picture):

The sensor is number 4, part number: SSW500030

However, this part number (SSW500030) actually looks like (including the Wabco brand, genuine Land Rover, OEM and/or pattern manufacturers):

Anyone aware if the short lead sensor is available anywhere?
Alternatively, anyone had any success fitting the plug connection from their old short lead sensor onto a replacement long lead sensor?

I think I have found the answer. The part number for the rear sensor with the short lead is TAR100070:

    However, it states that:

This part has been superseded by #SSW500030
Not sure how they figure that it is a suitable replacement given the differences...

It's pattern and manufacturered by Bearmach though...

Pretty sure the later replacements do away with the plug as this can also cause problems, the replacement leads should come with terminals to fit to the wires.

I have bought replacement terminals from ashdown and ingrams and have a heap spare if you live in brissy can give you some.

So the long lead units, does the lead run all the way back through the cabin to the ABS computer unit then?

Yes, a pain to fit and route but worth doing to eliminate all the possibilities

For the sake of completeness for anyone using this thread as a reference in the future, I can advise of the following additional part numbers:

original front sensors - TAR100060 - This part has been superseded by #SSW500020 - I am not sure of what the difference is

For those using the short wire rear sensors that want to replace the rest of the wiring:

YMD501770 - ABS SPEED SENSOR WIRE LHR DISCO11

YMD501780 - ABS SPEED SENSOR WIRE RHR DISCO11

What I have still not found is the replacement front wiring - i.e. that goes from the SLABS ECU to the connection plug in the engine bay where the front ABS sensors connect to it. Unless that is perhaps integrated as part of the main engine bay wiring hardness.

Thanks JC. Alternatively I thought just fit the long wire sensor from the rear.

HI, been through this in the front, and ended up running full length to ABS. Don't really have preference either way for the lead BUT, check the length of the sensor itself if buying aftermarket. The replacement I put in was around a millimetre longer, and guess what, it destroyed the reluctor ring through direct contact.

    See link.
