    Am I being paranoid....

Or is this a rear hub seal?

I'm really hoping it's not, and I have some small glimmer of hope in that it's not black and gunky, which the search results I found said rear hub seals tend to be as they push the grease past the seal. There was only minimal signs of liquid being 'flicked' in the wheel arch, and I could only see a tiny bit on the rim itself. I did see a woman with a dog walking away from where I parked and looking back this arvo, so fingers crossed?
Go on, someone tell me it's the hub seal. Make my day

The rear hubs have an O-ring seal between the hub assembly and the axel tube. There's oil inside the diff tube, not grease. If it's leaking, oil would come out, not grease.

What does inside the wheel rim look like? That's where you'd get the most oil.

Have you checked your rear diff oil level? Has it dropped? This would also indicate where it's leaking from...

Grease inside the hub gets pushed out. JC says 99 times out of 100 it's not the O ring seal, it's the inner seal in the hub. Haven't checked the diff oil yet, but NFI what it was like anyway inside the wheel rim looks pretty clean

Couldn't smell anything, I've hit the entire area with degreaser and will keep an eye on it.
Couldn't work out why the lady with the dog kept looking at my car....maybe now I know.
I wish I could say it's the first time I've had my car peed on!

    Contemplating headlight modifications (D2 to a D2a)......$1500

    Owning a D2 and being paranoid.....$3 - $18k

Thinking it's a rear hub seal when it's actually dog urine.....priceless.
