I'm not saying this is the problem but I think it has to do with the sensor that tells you which gear is in trying to lock the the car the next time pull the shift lever back and forward lock up the car and start. if it starts I would think that your ace water has got into the sensor how to rebuild one is on this site somewhere can not remember what the sensor is called when English is not my language sensor tells which gear is in I have had the same problem that you previously this was solved after that I repaired the sensor and moved the drainage of ac water
Sorry if I forgot to say that the first thing you need to try is to examin what the computer says if you have an error code. something does not say that the fuel will go into the engine but only starter will spin have you listened if the pump in the tank has built up pressure when he does not want to start. Second, I wrote a way to start the car without removing the fuse
I had a problem with my 1999 td5.auto
Had all the dash lights but when I turned the key... nothing at all.
Happened without warning. Car had a piggy back ride thanks to RACV and it turned out to be a bu**ered fuse mother board,
All good after that.
Regards, Nick
PS My car starts instantly every time even in cold weather without any use of the glow plugs. Go figure!
