    No Heater After Coolant Change

    Hi,

Over the few five days I have changed Top Radiator hose, hidden hose thermostat and associated hoses.Coolant Radiator Flush.

I cleaned the intercooler and intake lines. Changed MAF and did regulator and brush box in the alternator.

    Also changed fan belt.

Tonight (IT GOT TOO DARK) I filled it with new coolant and got 10 Ltrs in.

I started the engine and and did as best I could the COKE BOTTLE refill.

After 20 mins of idling in the drive the temp gauge inside the car came up to half the blue( did not get half way) and the hoses and top of motor felt quite hot. Very hot infact.

I ran the heater on flat out but it only blew cold air.

So i think I got mogoraty of the water in as I'm sure there was still a couple of litres of fresh water in the system as when I flushed it.

I did it after I removed all the hoses and use a blower vac to push the rest of the water out .

In hindsight I should have done it as a positive pressure flush.

Anyway. Any ideas why no heater. I know I haven't taken it for a drive but I would of thought I would still get hot air in the vehicle.

Any ideas will be much appreciated

    Cheers

    Bleeding Td5

Sometimes they can be a bit of a pain to bleed
Have you used the bleed plug in top hose you may
have air in the top hose.

Lifting the tank up can get a bubble or three out put the heater
on to full heat and take a short run then open bleed screw again
Sometimes takes a few mins to get the heater burped.

You will know when its fully bled when top hose is hot when bleed
is open no bubbles and heater runs hot.

Some TD5 like to have coolant about 25mm below marked
    coolant level.

    Cheers,

My top hose was hot but not hard is that an issue?

I will take your advice and Ill give it a shot after work today.

Hope that is all it is.

I have coolant coming back into fill tank so I assume the water pump is circulating coolant.

Also wanted to say that I did comprehensive AULRO search and google site search for this topic and spent an hour or so on it.

The only post I could find was a dude in the UK with similar issues but he never posted back to say what the end result was.
He felt it was a water pump.

I cant imagine it is for me because every thing was fine before I changed coolant.

So sorry if this has been covered before...

I almost ALWAYS have to take it for a drive, preferrably up and down a few hills and around a few corners, the heater is sometimes a pain to get the air out of.

    Cheers Justin.. and Scotts D2

Yes indeed I needed to LIFT the coolant canister and it needed to be driven until the system BURPED..

Work was cancelled this morning so I did it at 8 am and it is purring like a kitten.

All up very very happy. The alternator brush and regulator change was very straight forward.

Replacing the fan belt is easy when you know how.. Thanks to this forum I now know.

Hoses were not easy but persistence paid off.

Thanks again AULRO folk for the confidence to get these issues sorted.

Am having a few slight coolant weeping issues past hoses.

Especially the hose under the thermostat that is different diameters the end at the bottom nearest the drain screw is leaking coolant.

Its VERY hard to get too. Im thinking of trying Stainless Hoses Clamps one on each side.

I put OAT Red Coolant in.

    Cheers.

Ill update in a week or so after I see what happens.
