Little confused here, I am following Urban Panza's guide to a do a ATF change on the car.
I have all the tools/atf/filter/gasket and O-rings, I have identified the fill and drain plugs and the car is on level ground in the garage with both plugs loosened.
When I loosened the fill plug on the sump fluid came gushing out, I was expecting yeh a little but so far 500-600 mills and I put the plug back in, I have the SLS at road height and no lift front or rear.
Is this right ?? I have driven the car about 5kms this morning prior to starting this, so does it over pressurize the system ?
Or do I have to do it stone cold ? The engine isnt hot neither the auto.
Other part is then if it is gushing out on the level garage floor how the hell am I to get that much fluid back in ?? Park it in the drive on the slope to fill ?
Any hints would be great.

Yes. Fluid will come out of the filler plug if the engine isn't running. Which is why after the initial fill with the engine off you start the engine, run thru gears and keep filling until fluid comes out, put in the fill plug before turning the engine off.

Unless you enjoy cleaning up litres of ATF ,,the only time the fill plug comes out is when engine is running .

I was under the impression you simply crack the fill plug a tiny bit to make sure you can refill it, then drain, fill, start and run through the gears while still filling, etc

Hey guys, I ordered my auto kit from roverlord spares and will be doing mine in next couple of days, will I need 5 litres of auto fluid and will dextron 4 be ok, 5 litres from supercheap is gunna hurt the wallet, just looked up some oils suercheap carry, dex 3, type f, transmax 95 any pref on td5 box

5It will do a change but get 2 bottles because you never know! Dex3 is ok, if heavy use eg towing Transmax Z but if the oil in it is unknown a complete change will be required for that.

You need to;
Drain and change filter refit pan.
Fill through fill port and then start and keep filling.
Run through gears and fill. (it's a spin out to look through the port and watch the oil spilling around)
I then jack the front by the diff 10" up and fill/run through gears and fill to level.
The jacking get's the same volume as I measured a having come out to take it back to full volume, which I checked when I replaced the box (twice now).

What about using a three way l port ball valve in line in the return and another in the feed side to the cooler. You could use one to dump the fluid and the other to suction it in (if it'd draw from a head or gravity feed it) and you could see when the clear fluid was coming through.
I replaced the QRs with JIC fittings on mine.
