    D2a more rust prone...

    I think in Aus our frames are pretty safe but I have seen D2a's with perforation in the chassis. My D2 with 240,000 and a lot of beach use has zero as with my D1 at nearly 300,000k.

    PS. I have seen a suggestion on Discoweb that the D2a chassis was made lighter than the D2 but I dont know if that is true. I have also seen D2's with chassis rust, but I am assuming salt water beach use and no cleaning down.

    Corrosion

    It depends on use owner and location.

    I'm UK based and with the winter we get salted roads it eats
    cars chassis ACE pipes are common for scrapping cars.

    But if the owner can be bothered to clean and treat the underside
    they will last well.

    Heat dust vibration and UV damage seems to problems in Oz.

    A D2a V8 weighs about 2020kg.

    My Silver D2a was sold with a TEN year corrosion warranty,, yes I know its useless unless serviced by LR for ten,,
    but it does show how confident they were--

    The only signs of rust in mine are a stone chip on the roof and the top of the B pillars. Looks like the result of poor preparation. Easily curtailed if caught early.
