    Disco V8 performance

Hopeless at navigating the forum, looking for details re performance upgrades for 2003 Disco V8. Suggestions on extractors & exhaust, cams with suitability for roller lifters, already found that yella terra has roller rockers available, possible injector upgrades?

    Thanks Clarkey

Down the bottom of this page is a button that will display ALL the available Forums,,
    and even take you there--

    as for the other,,
what did you want your 2 tonne 4wd to do?

if you want to go off road,, leave it the hell alone.
If you want to tow something, throw the 4l block out and start again with a 4.6.
but then the autobox only handles X amount,, so what happens then?

you want to go fast? how big is your wallet?

    so many questions

Ahh Pedro, the wise sage, thanks for your advice. Its mainly used as the family wagon but is also used to tow everything up to a tri axle car trailer, so a little more urge would be nice, was thinking the minor improvements I had in mind would improve low down torque.

The Thor is very good at bottom end stuff,, When I bought the 4.6 I had a H180 cam put in,, only because Turners reccommended it for towing, I think ANY aftermarket cam will raise the max torque spot,, but as a wise friend told me, it also raises whats UNDER the max torque spot. After any engine mod only a dyno will tell the truth.
A better 2-1 exhaust join with the relocation of the cat will be my last engine mod() The Forum Wise Ones say the manifold itself is quite good so I wont be disturbing it..
If you tow heavy regularly, a trans cooler and synthetic oil are a wise move. Lots of (install)posts on this.
I myself would be interested in any info on replacement/better injectors.
roller rockers? how mnay more revs do you want?

No extra revs, but a stronger and flatter torque curve. Possibly suitable to fitment of aftermarket overdrive or taller wheel/tyre combo. Yella Terra have roller rockers available. bit more research on injectors to be done, they have come along way in last 10 years, better economy and more power to be had.

    Ok,, I'll bite,
How do roller rockers get you a better torque profile?

Rollers are about reduced friction and gaining smooth revs - horsepower!

A good cam like Crow or others, some basic port matching, high flow cats and muffler and you are good to go - useful, fun, good sound, some extra hp and useful torque increase...cheap. From there small gains costs HEAPS, and big gains are worth more than the car several times over.

    Cheers

Id only bother with the roller rockers in conjunction with a new cam.
