    MAF Mystery....

    Okay so...
Chucked my D2 on Slunnies Nanocom yesterday arvo and got a MAF reading at idle of mid 40s....Not so good.
    However....
    Fuel economy is okay.
    Plenty of power.
No smoke apart from start up and then absolute minimum.
NONE of the typical fubar'd MAF symptoms.
Have a link for a VDO/Siemens MAF waiting, all looks okay to me as it's got 5WK9607Z in the description...

Anyone see any issues with this?

Next up, I have some CRC contact cleaner, will this be okay to use on it?
Will wait until next week when I don't have to drive/have time to order new one...
Anything I should consider? Air filter is at the end of it's useful life, could this have an impact?
    Cheers

    The MAF

Figures are a bit low for flow ideally should be 50 at idle.

A clogged filter will slow down the amount of air the engine
is trying to draw air in.

The filter will also give diffent reading on your MAP & AAP if
    it is clogged.

If you can get the nanocom when you have got a new filter
run the engine with old filter then the new record MAF MAP
and AAP values you will see a change in values.

If you are trying to diagnose the MAF you also need to see
what values you have at high flow engine working hard
about 4000rpm you should see approx 500/550 this will
show how the MAF is working across the rev/airflow range.
    On a unmodified engine/ECM.

    Cleaning.
You can get specific MAF cleaner from the same manufacturer
but be careful what you use it must be plastic friendly and quick
drying some differing options on what to use make sure its
dry before you switch ignition on.

That ad seems to describe a genuine VDO MAF at reasonable
    price.

    Cheers mate.
All the reading I've found has suggested mid 50s at idle is what you want.
Might have to take slunnie for a fang up a hill.
Will do the service and see if it makes a difference.

Try cleaning the MAF first, then try the Nanocom again and also try it at 3000 RPM, gotta get a reading of 500 to 600 plus, then it may be stuffed.

    Clean the air filter first.

    Interesting....
Driving to uni today it happily pulled past 4k, was VERY spritely up the hill, had a funny shift or two but I was varying the throttle input considerably going around corners very close to the kick down point.
Service kit arrived, I'm not going to mess around with it until uni holidays (thursday) but it's performing excellently for now....
    Bizarre.

Is that where you drive them too close to the shore and put them on their side?
