    Leaking Fuel Pressure Regulator

Has anyone tried one of these? My regulator has started leaking.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I wouldn't bother myself, just ordered a new one from Rimmer Bros.
Not a job you want to be doing twice, some people have some luck with them but it seems to be a pretty stop gap measure IMO

Yep used the same kit 8 months ago no probs . Cant see why it cant or would,nt work if done correctly Maybe some people need not attempt such jobs and pay dearly for someone else to do it

Except the regulators fail in more than one way, and the O ring kits won't solve all the possible failures, and you can still have a failed FPR without having any visible leaks.
Dave, have a squiz at this post from OffTrack...

All fine but the kit mentioned has a replacement fuel regulator + o rings and gasket .
Like i say if one is not confident dont do it . If you are handy it works out a sight cheaper than the whole unit to replace .
The reg is the part that leaks most often so if a replacement is fitted correctly all good . Its not a brain numbing job

    hi Dave,
I had a pretty much constantly dripping fuel reg about 3 years ago now and after checking the price of a new complete reg at about $300 I thought I would give a kit a go first. In my case, I purchased a couple of 'O' ring kits to suit the reg off ebay (UK supplier) for about $9 each plus postage (was'nt very much for o rings size and weight) and about a week later took the reg out and fitted the new set of 'o' rings. Whole assy comes apart easily to replace any of the parts of which there are few.
In my case it must have been an 'o' ring issue as it fixed the dripping and I have not had a problem since. I've also got a spare set to do it again if necessary... all at very low cost compared to a new fuel reg

I bought one of these kits but then decided to go for a new whole unit as I did not want to do it again.
I guess it would have or could have worked first time but was not going to take the risk.
I have a spare new regulator and O rings laying around if needed by anyone.

Looks ok, I see its got a new reg and both the early n later metal gasket, although I thought from memory the later style did them all anyway.

The advantage of the complete replacement unit is it does come with a new hose, which can leak its just not as common as the reg itself leaking. For a DIY thing Im guessing it would be ok, as a repairer the time taken to replace all the bits makes it not worth doing.

    Regards
    Daz

After replacing complete unit, only to have it leak again about 40k later I fitted a 4 bar regulator (about $50 on ebay from Spain)and have had no problems since, after well over 100k with the added bonus of better performance. You will need a new gasket.
