    Glind shower

    Has anyone fitted a Glind Little Ripper shower under a D2 bonnet and if so was it difficult to get it in?
    Will it work on a TD5 diesel engine?

    You'll never fit under the bonnet of a D2 for a shower there's just not enough room......

    Had to look up what a Glind shower actually was.... Wouldn't think it should be too hard to fit the components in, depending on what else is already in your engine bay, but I wonder how hot the coolant needs to be to have an acceptably warm shower? From memory a Td5 won't go past about a quarter on the gauge if you just try and warm it up on the spot from cold, needs to go for a drive to actually reach operating temperature. Probably fine if you're having showers at the end of the day after lots of driving, but morning showers might not be too pleasant...

    Glind shower

    I had a glind shower fitted to my patrol and I found exactly as said above. From cold start no chance for anything but a Luke warm shower. But after a good run it was really hot. On the patrol you could adjust the temp via the heater controls and I guess you could plumb it the same way in the Disco. I do know that it's a pain to plumb in a Defender as you have to fit a lever stop cock to restrict the flow though the heater matrix to force it though the heat exchanger.

    I digress, good units though and I would fit another again.

    Won't work on a D2 with climate control, the flow of water is not hot for a long period, the cooling system on the D2, same case for the D3/D4/RRS works differently and doesn't have a constant flow of water.

    I tried myself in my old D2, didn't matter which way we plumbed it in, it just wouldn't work.

    Really annoying too, cause it worked brilliant in my Explorer, it would probably work in a TD5 Defender, as it doesn't have climate control.

    You don't necessarily have to use heater hoses though.... There are other hoses you could tap into on a Td5 if desired, which should always be at around 90degrees on a car that's been driving.

    Yes EvilGTV. I was thinking as I have 90 degrees I could do somthing with it. I take everyone else's point about not being much good from a cold start.
    The next point is where to take off the hot water from.
    I do have a hot water cube that I use as well but was just hoping to cut down on carrying space. Any one got any thoughts on were to take the hot coolant from?

    Redback, I see your post but I was thinking that the cold shower supply could be controlled with a quarter turn gate valve and just set in one place after tuning it in.

    Attached image from RAVE should help you plan it out... I'd probably go for the hose that drops down off the top hose into the pipes behind the radiator, as generally there is more space in the engine bay on that side. Also more accessible in case of leaks.

    There are a few more hoses that can be picked up on the drivers side of the car though, around the bottom of the radiator/oil cooler return/fuel cooler. Bit harder to get at is all.
