Hi. I have been having crappy reception of FM radio. Anyone can tell me where the antenna located? Thanks
The crap radio reception isn't to do with the antenna, its the crap radio, especially on AM. There are a number of threads on this in the Comms, Car audio and Electronics forum.
It is possible but unlikely that the reception amplifier located in the roof above the antenna is not working. If that were the case, however, you'd get almost no reception at all on AM.
Suffice to say, I replaced my otherwise good radio in my 2004 disco about 18 months ago and the difference was phenomenal. Vastly improved AM and FM range, with Sydney AM reception to Orange, no drop out under overpasses. You can also update to blue tooth, usb and Ipod input, etc depending on the radio you get. Main issue in replacing standard radio is getting the steering wheel controls to work. You need to buy an interface. This is also covered in the above threads and can be tricky.
Cheers

AM seems fine. Only FM has bad reception. It takes a while to seek the channel when I just switch On the radio.
What radio unit do you use to replace the original one?
what ever takes your fancy really and wallet! The better brands are the go really , eg JVC Sony, Kenwood, etc. So long as its a single Din unit

I had zero reception - AM or FM - until I updated my head unit to a Pioneer with MP3/Bluetooth/USB etc.
Actually the receptions are good in certain suburb. Could it be just the antenna amplifier?
likely not the amp. the reception could just be that the transmitter is located there! When I replaced the Defers unit with a cd/radio Pioneer head unit I found radio stations I never knew b4 and it doubled the FM reception distance!

Found out what causing the issue with radio reception is the fm transmitter when plugin to 12v socket at the rear only. If plug into the front is fine.
