    coolant change back

    I bit the bullet over the week end and flushed out the cooling system.
    Some dick h had put green coolant in my TD5. rad.
    Whilst doing this I replaced the top hose and after reading on this forum about back flushing the heater Took BOTH pipes off the heater . You would be amazed by the amount of crud that came out of that heater box.
    My heating has always been nothing but ordinary. Now it works like a Russian limo out of Siberia. Give you sunburn almost.
    I now have OAT pink back in it. All good now.

    Can't you have the green stuff in a TD5?

    I think its personal choice l r recommend oat Justin c uses glycol in his and others and says its no problem I also no of others who run cummins coolant with no issues ultimately the choice is yours

    Play it again Sam..... There is Red OAT, and there is Green OAT.
    And either will work, just as glycol norm will work.

    Thanks and that is a relief.

    You can't get the pink stuff here in Uganda so I dumped it for green.

    Just as an added bit of info, If you are going to use normal rad additive, ie glycol based, you will need to change it no longer than 2 yrs. OAT and HOAT, can last up to 5 yrs without changing.

    I use Cummins and it lasts a lot longer than that.

    Fine to use cummins pg platinum coolant in cummins engines, very few will make it to 1.5 million kilometres without a rebuild. As for using it in our landrovers, it is a coolant designed for use in a cast iron block, cast iron cylinder head, copper core radiator. Personally I would never use it in and alloy block V8 with alloy heads and an aluminium radiator.

    Cummins claim that PG platinum is suitable for ANY engine be it petrol or diesel.

    So if this wrecks my Td5 guess who is paying.
