Adam, I have yet to trial it, but from my measurements on my vehicle 315/75R16 (which is almost 35") would fit with a 3" lift and the Les Richmond White Tiger flares on my D2a. At only 2" lift I'd have some rubbing.
Also to consider is the wheel offset (+30mm). From my calculations, the fronts will rub at turn on my unless I wind out the steering stops to suit obviously or get more offset wheels (e.g. +6mm) to retain the full steering.
I have been keeping an eye out on Gumtree and my local 4WD forum for some second hand tyres in this size to trial (I can't justify the expense of buying new straight up) - it would also be good to have the used tyres for the engineering process as they'll be a little bit smaller and the vehicle a little bit lower than brand new ones...
