Pop the Land Rover badge off the rear door handle with a flathead screwdriver. Spray a whole heap of WD into the mechanism. Walk away, make love to the missus, come back tomorrow and try to open it. If no success, repeat. It will open. Once it does, spray with WD every so often and it should never happen again.

The solution that works on mine every time is to hit the exterior door handle hard with your hand or a rubber mallet a few times. This will release the sticky lever then give it another try.

x2 - solid thump against back door and it closes properly and you can then re-open.

If you can get inside, pull the rubber seal from between the door and body next to the latch and squirt crc in there and the child lock toggle. It is possible it is fully jammed, mine did and we were fully packed with cargo barrier in place. Had to take barrier out through passenger doors to gain access, break lock inside door and then replace (luckily I had the door card off).

Someone posted the child lock lever can half drop on rough roads and jam the door mechanism.

I had a look at mine and jammed a block of foam in there to stop the child lock lever from moving.. Hope it works.. I also noticed it full of dust but too afraid to clean it...

Hope you get your door open soon..

Has anyone put a foam or rubber seal around the catch to keep dust out?

You can get cans of dry lube, use them as they don't attract dust. The LR guy that fixed my door said crc/wd40 is fine as the locks are full of grease from the factory to prevent freezing in cold climates. He washes it out and uses dry lube instead on new locks he installs.

    Back door won't open

Walpumur, more lube, more time. She should open.

I'd go a WD or even better Penetrine rather than silicone.

Others have suggested dry lubes but you won't get penetration. Save that until after you've disassembled and cleaned it up.
