Don't know about Arnotts. But i would be taking a spare of any brand if i was towing any great distance
I recently had a chance to pick up 2 new Arnotts air bags at a giveaway price. As I'm soon heading off for some long caravan touring I thought no harm in grabbing them as emergency spares. I know they have a bad reputation compared with the originals but can anyone make me feel better by advising they have run them without any more problems than you'd expect to have with original LR bags.

I would pack an original bag. Changing a bag on my classic is easier than changing the whole unit.
Put the arnotts on ebay.
Thanks for the feedback but has anyone actually used the Arnotts bags and did they live up to their crappy reputation.
I have never heard about this bad reputation. For p38 owner Arnotts bags are the ducks guts and are supposedly the only bag that can handle the extra load after giving them a 2 inch lift.
Are there any more of these cheap bags available? I am in the process of pricing Dunlops for spares, but would grab Arnotts in a flash if the price was right.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I concur with the preceding post. Arnott's are the DB's as far as I'm concerned (P38 owner).
Unfortunately I happened to have horrible results with Arnotts bags and would never touch them again. Mind you this was a few years ago and they may have improved. The issue was that the ring that held the bag on was slipping and on mine the rubber bag bulged. After my original bags started to develop leaks, i bought a set of Arnotts bags, installed them and these failed by leaking around the ring. They then sent me new ones under warranty but these were just as bad even though they said they had made modifications (so obviously there were a few bad bags out there) I went and got OEM bags after that and they have been fantastic. I can't down load the pics from my phone so I will try to do it later.

All very interesting. A visit to the Arnott Industries web site shows them to be a usa company making after market air suspension components for various makes including Merc, Audi,Jag & US cars plus Harleys. They even sell a rear coil conversion kit for D2s and new Wabco compressors for D2s at $575 US. From the US L/rover forums they seem to be in common use there.
Altho' di5co had a bad experience with them maybe was unlucky and got duds so the jury might still be out on the Arnott bags, they seem to be worth me keeping for emergency situations.
