    EGR removed - problem - 2000 TD5

I removed my EGR and blanked of the exhaust. I also followed the vacuum pipe back and put the rubber stopper over the inlet/outlet.

Problem - I have noticed after some heavy breaking it sounds like a random pump kicks in, and then doesn't stop. (vibration that does not have any relation to throttle)

    Any suggestions????

    Hello,
If the vibration kicks in only under heavy breaking then I a guessing, everything is going as it should it will be your ABS kicking in as it should have nothing to do with your blanking plate.

It first started after heavy breaking, but not to the point that the ABS would kick in. The pump sound then runs until the car is turned off.

Only thing changed is the EGR removal kit, the symptom started the same day as the kit was installed. The sound seems to be coming from where the work was done. I have removed the engine cover but have run out of time to take the car for a run again to get the noise to start.

I also removed the O2 sensor behind the EGR and cleaned, but nothing out of the ordinary occurred when doing so.

Did you remember to unplug the 2 electrical connectors on the EGR solenoids?

I unplugged 1, and put a cap on the one i removed at the solenoid. I thought they were vacuum lines??? I also thought that only the facelift model had to have 2 lines removed.

Have I missed a wire as suggested above?

Yep, I had the same buzzing noise when only removing the one vac control line per instructions. I capped the other vac line coming from the pump-booster line as well and noise went away. I left the electrical connection in case the ecu got upset. All good.

Is that the yellow vacuum hose? Did you cap it at the solenoid (like the blue one), but also removed the yellow line from and cap it at the T junction?

How did you do the T junction as I only got 2 rubber bungs for the solenoid?

    Thanks

Cap the T as that's your Brake vacuum and most important. Then put the blue and yellow pipes in the cupboard with the egr. You can tape or cap the solenoid to protect from dust although realistically you won't use it again.

No worries. Did you notice a difference with egr gone? Seems to me the throttle response and turbo picks up a bit better.
