    water pump--preventative maintenance at 150ks?

My D2a now has 150ks up. Should a new water pump & O ring be on my preventative maintenance list before some extensive touring or should more Ks be expected out of it.
While I'm at it, the same question about viscous fan bearings. I lie in bed at night thinking of things that might go wrong out in the remoter parts.
    Cheers

    Hey mate.
I'm the same whenever we go away with the van. I would be doing the lot if they are original parts. Viscous fan bearing, idler and tensioner bearings, water pump, HB if that has not been done and a new belt. Full fluid change as well as, well; anything else that needs doing........
    Piece of mind is priceless.
    Regards

But don't do anything just before you go. Give it a few weeks running in before you launch it into anything remote.

Diesel or V8? I assume Td5 with the mention of viscous fan bearings.

Never a bad idea, but I replaced mine at 450k. Pump was still ok, but the viscous fan bearing had failed. Some failure modes are as much about time since new as opposed to km covered so any preventative maint after 10years is always a good idea in my mind.
