Thread: Help! Low speed shudder

    Ok had a proper check and yes there is a bit of play in the front prop shaft unis. Not much only a couple of mm, but I guess that's enough.

    OK so I installed a new woody propshaft this afternoon. Took it for a test drive, seemed fine. Drove down to the local shops, about 3ks, still fine.
    Come out from the shop, take of and the shudder returns

    I believe I tightened it up correctly, slowly applying more torque, pushing the car to rotate the prop, tighten, push, tighten push etc.

    So any suggestions most welcome.

    I'll be looking at the handbreak mechanism on Saturday, but would have thought that if it was catching it would do it constantly, rather than only under load???

    Hi, I was just wondering if you found the problem? I have the same thing in an auto td5 disco 2? Any help would be great

    Yes I found the problem. To cut a long story short, oil in the ecu via the injector harness. The shudder was the engine not in the drive train.

    Plenty of threads on this subject on here. And surprisingly easier to fix then hand brake/clutch/gearbox/engine mounts etc etc

    That is interesting. Your comment that it was running a bit rough at idle was a clue. I think what threw most of us was that it appeared as a shudder, as opposed to a misfire, but in hindsight it makes sense. Thanks for the follow up on what the outcome was.
